Edwin joined MYSA at the age of 10 years as a football player in MYSA Mathare North zone. Edwin has served in different MYSA leadership roles before employment. In 1997 and 1988 he was elected as the community service representative of Mathare North zone and later as the member of the MYSA Executive council. In 2001, Edwin was elected as the Executive council chairman and successful represented MYSA in different meetings/forums and events. Further to the elective positions in MYSA, he is a trained peer educator, life skill coach, a mentor and a youth champion, Edwin has grown through the MYSA staffing ranks and currently he is working as the Programme Director of the Mathare Youth Sports Association. He has extensive knowledge and experience in Programme management, monitoring & evaluation and grants management, with a passion on organizational social impact and partnership building. Edwin has also conducted trainings in sports for development and youth development work in local and international forums. Edwin is holder of High Diploma in Counselling Psychology from Kenya Association of professional Counsellors, certified life skills coach and trainer of trainers in sports for development work
Kiragu joined MYSA when was 11 years of age as a player for Reggae Boys at Mathare North zone. He was elected as the young environment representative under MYSA Community service council in the year 1998, from there was elected to in various leadership position. He was later elected as a Chairman of MYSA Mathare North committee in the year 2000, and still playing in the league competition respectively. Mr. Kiragu was nominated to represent MYSA in various occasions such as World environmental activities in Nyeri county and World Book fairs in International School of Kenya among other. In the year 2011 was nominated to represent MYSA in Norway for Library partnership and resource mobilization. In the year 2006 was employed as junior staff of the MYSA Mathare North library, in 2011 was promoted to Assistant Manager of the Library project. Currently he is the Manager of the merged two projects, MYSA Slum Libraries and Leadership Awards. He is also a Member of MYSA procurement committee and Chairman of various development groups in Mathare Slums. Mr. Kiragu holds Advanced Certificates on Science Library Management from Kenya National Library Services and Book Aid International UK, he has long-term working experience and is rich on skills in Education department.
Sarah joined MYSA in 1992 at the age of 9years as a player of red beavers FC in Mathare zone under 12 girls league. In 1996 she was selected in the first MYSA girls’ team that participated in the Norway Cup Tournament and in 1997 she was trained as a peer educator on HIV/AIDS. Sarah joined the MYSA staff team in 1997 as a zonal coordinator for Eastleigh zone in the sports project. In 1998 she was appointed as the vice chairperson in the community service council and later in 2006 she became the overall girls’ coordinator in the sports project. Sarah is currently working as the Procurement and Assets Manager and possesses skills in sports administration and management, leadership and interpersonal skills.She has certificate in sports administration and management from Kenya College of Accounting (KCA)and has also attended various courses such as coaching and leadership courses. She enjoys mentoring young upcoming female leaders and during her free time she likes working out at the gym.
Kennedy joined MYSA at the age of 9 years as a football player in MYSA Dandora zone under 10 years league. Kennedy has served MYSA in different capacities as a volunteer before employment. In 1999 he was elected as Maili Saba Zonal league committee secretary, later as a Zonal Head referee and peer educator from 2000 to 2005. He has attended several leadership training include Coaching course, peer educators and advocacy Leadership training. He is a result driven, analytically minded project manager with broad experience in leading and handling large projects. He possesses a proven track record of utilizing communication and leadership and translates project vision into reality. He served MYSA Library as a library attendant in 2007. He was employed as MYSA Counsellor in 2010. In 2016 he was appointed as MYSA Community health and rights Manager. Ken is holder of High Diploma in Counselling Psychology from Kenya Association of professional Counsellors, Counsellors support supervisor from LVCT training institute, Life skills training in life skills promotors Certificate in Trauma Counselling from Amani training centre, Certificate in policies advocacy from AMREF ecampus.
